Today, we will be celebrating a holiday that focuses on love, but we do not always receive the love. Singles and married couples alike have strong feelings about Valentine’s Day. There are those that love the idea of showing gestures of love to others. Then there are those that hate the idea of forced love. So, this Valentine’s Day, let’s try something different; let’s include a day of self-love.
One of the biggest factors in burnout is that people lose a part of who they are. They forget what they love and what replenishes them. So, on this Valentine’s Day, here are some ideas on how you can rekindle the fire that is in yourself.
- Go for a walk in a scenic area. Nature is a great way to forget about worries and soak in the beauty that is God’s created world. You being the crown of God’s creation.
- Spend some time at a local book store. Grab a book and a cup of coffee and get lost in a good book.
- Get pampered. Find somewhere to get a massage and recharge your batteries. Take a long, relaxing bath.
- Take a nap. It is amazing what an uninterrupted nap can do to reset your clock.
- Go see a movie just for you. If you are in a relationship, there is always one person who compromises on a movie preference. Enjoy the freedom of going to a movie without having to worry about if your partner is enjoying it or not.
- Enjoy a good meal. Whether it is home cooked or you are eating out. Enjoy the pleasure of a great meal.
- Listen to music. Gather up your favorite music and turn up the volume. Who knows, you might even start to dance.
- Spend time with friends. Good company is always a plus.
- Preform a Random Act of Kindness. Pay for someone’s coffee, take clothes to a shelter, serve a meal, or mow a lawn. It doesn’t matter what it is, just serve.
- Show love to the God who loves you dearly. Spend some time in God presence soaking up the love God is pouring out on you.
