We are excited this week because our first eNews Letter comes out tomorrow (April 15th), so make sure you see the right lower side of this page or mid left side of facebook.com/elijahstree3 to sign up! With that said, Welcome to this week’s Post! In last week’s post, we interviewed a counselor who recommended family time as a way to prevent and recover from burnout. This week, I would like to mention a few websites that all have great ideas. I simply Binged “fun things to do with your family” and several lists popped up.
Parents.com gave a list of 20 fun and inexpensive things to do. Making sunflowers from Styrofoam balls could be fun for you and your little girl. As I was reading it, I thought it might be fun to make planets and solar systems with a son. Another fun idea was to visit a fire station. The site told us many fire stations are willing to schedule a visit just from a phone call. However, one of my favorite ideas was to build a garden labyrinth with the kids. We took this idea one step further. A prayer labyrinth is a path similar to a maze. Yet, they only have one path which is meant to direct you to, not keep you from, the center. On the way to the center, you lay down your cares and worries so you are in fully in a state of prayer by the time you reach the center, which represents God’s presence. Parents.com tells us kids enjoy following the twist and turns of the sticks, stones, unmown grass, or other creative ideas the labyrinth could be made of.
Another site that came up was Lifescript.com’s 10 Ideas for Family Activities. I enjoyed this list because it didn’t stop with the activity, but gave fun suggestions on what to do with the activities, such as turn a walk in the woods into rescuing the princess or slaying dragons. Another great idea was reading a book as a family. This gives great cuddle time with the younger ones. For families with older kids, Lifescript.com recommends reading a book separately, but having family discussions about it. They gave the fun idea of reading forensics and then solving a household mystery (with easily found clues of course).
These are ideas from the top two sites the search engine pulled up. We are not affiliated with either Parents.com or Lifescript.com, but if you would like to know more about them, please follow their hyperlink I included. If they are not working for your computer, I’ll include the URLs’ for cutting and pasting after closing the article. As always, I appreciate you taking time to read this blog and hope you find it interesting and useful. Please make sure you sign up for our eNews Letter starting TOMORROW!
