Caregivers and Burnout

As we aim to reach people in many different types of ministries, there is one that continues to show a high rate of burnout and stress. The field of caregivers, and those who minister in this way, face the challenge of loving others as family, even if they are not. When looking for a topic for this week’s blog, I quickly noticed videos by Kasey Davis on this subject. The first one opens with the advice of a needs assessment list. Our narrator tells us it is as important to complete this list for ourselves, as it is for the clients. She made the comparison of being on an airplane and securing your own oxygen mask before helping others around you. In the same way, you have to take care of your own needs before you can fully and effectively take care of other’s needs. Completing this list enables you to know and understand your own needs so you can take those important steps to keep yourself healthy. If you follow the hyperlink, Kasey also includes a link to a needs assessment checklist.

Sometimes your need is to just get away a few days. That is our ministry to those in ministry. Kelly and I worked as house parents in a children’s home for seven years and we both have been there. We understand where you are. If it is time for you to retreat, then we can help you Renew and help you be Restored, so you can Return to your calling. Please contact us through our blog, or Facebook.com/elijahstree3. Also, if you have been there and now have come through, we would like for you to share your testimony with us. It could be our featured segment one week. If you would like to give to this ministry, please click the donate tab for easy options. Thanks for giving us your time, and as always – To GOD be the Glory!
